  • The Bears beat the Saints 20-10 with 4 sacks. Khalil Mack is a force.

Week 8 Recap & Notes:

PIT (7-0) vs BAL (5-2) 28-24 Steelers.

It was a defensive effort and an efficient offense from the Steelers that won this. Lamar looked frustrated as he had 2 INT and 3 FUM on the day.

NE (2-5) vs. BUF (6-2) 21-24.

The Bills beat the Patriots on the road for the first time in 9 years. Stefon Diggs had 6 catches for 92 receiving yards. John Brown returned and opened things up. Look out for a trap game in Seattle, though, if key players return for that Seattle defense. They've been bad, but they're playing with several backups and should be getting healthy in the near term.

TEN (5-2) vs CIN (2-5-1) 31-20 Bengals.

Is Corey Davis the new WR1 in TEN? Are the Titans pretenders? Is Ryan Tannehill #washed? No, no, and no. Everyone calm down. The Titans are a good team that had a bad game because their opponent had a good one. That's all. Corey Davis is a talent, though, and has received far too much disrespect in the fantasy football community.

LVR (4-3) vs. CLE (5-3) 16-6.

Baker Mayfield isn't very good. Unless Kareem Hunt/Nick Chubb (when healthy) or Myles Garrett dominate the game, Baker doesn't have the stuff to win games. There, I said it. The Browns have the record but are a clear Tier 3 behind the Steelers (Tier 1), Ravens (Tier 2). The Raiders are a year away from challenging KC for that division. I think the Chargers are, too.

IND (5-2) vs DET (3-4) COLTS 41-21.

I thought this one would be closer, but Phillip Rivers and the Colts found a rhythm with their 2 running backs, NOT NAMED Jonathan Taylor. Jordan Wilkins had 20 carries for 89 yards and a TD. At the same time, Nyheim Hines added 2 TD through the air. JT is soft. JT is not a workhorse back. Somehow, someway, the Colts are 5-2 and tied for 1st with the Titans in the division. Their defense is getting healthier with the return of Darius Leonard. Look out, AFC South. Kenny Golladay went out with a hip injury.

DAL (2-6) vs. PHI (3-4-1). Philly won this one 23-9, but it wasn't pretty.

The Eagles defense had a good outing, but they faced the 3rd string QB in Ben DiNucci. As long as DiNucci is on the field, stream the defense that is playing him. You're welcome. Philly is getting healthier too? I don't know if that's true or possible; I commented on our podcast The Money Play leading up to the start of the season that the Eagles were already injured somehow...now it's clear that they sold their health for the next 10 seasons to have Nick Foles win them a Super Bowl. Super stupid if you ask me!

TB (6-2) vs NYG (1-7) TB 25-23.

New York and Danny Dimes almost pulled off the upset and handed the keys to the Saints in the NFC South...almost. The reality is, the Giants are asking WAY too much out of Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones is averaging just 2.2 seconds in the pocket (tied for 2nd least amount of time); he ranks 3rd in QB Pressures, which combines hurries, hits, and sacks. It takes a special player to overcome that amount of adversity from the position, and the only player who is clearly facing more adverse conditions is Carson Wentz. For reference, Wentz is 1st in the number of times he has been pressured this season with 94. Daniel Jones, Joe Burrow, and Russell Wilson are all tied for 2nd with 79.  That should also illustrate how special Russell is #MVP. Anyways, I digress. Daniel Jones is a talented young QB, but the Giants will ruin him if they can't find a way to get the ball out of his hands more quickly to help keep his jersey clean. This offense goes through Jones, so unless something changes, buyer's beware. Notable: Golden Tate has touchdowns in back to back weeks.

Week 8 Trades Recap:

Titans - Receive Desmond King CB for a 6th round pick. King is set for free agency after this season. The Titans get a very talented corner for just a 6th. Not bad.

Saints - Receive Kwon Alexander. Send Kiko Alonso, and a conditional 5th round pick in 2021. This seems like a home run for the Saints, but Alexander has had difficulty staying on the field. If he can stay healthy, he's a rangy linebacker that can make plays all over the field. He will fit nicely with young stud Demario Davis. On the flip side, the 49ers are looking at the future; it seems. They get out of Alexander's $54 million deal, receive a pick that could likely be upgraded, and get a solid fill-in player in Kiko Alonso.

Steelers - Receive Avery Williamson and a 2022 7th. Send 2022 5th to the Jets. There are certain things I don't understand; this is one of them. Devin Bush MLB is out for the season with an ACL tear. The Steelers find a suitable replacement and only move down 2 rounds for the 2022 draft.

Patriots - Isaiah Ford WR was a 2017 7th round pick that was starting to blossom. I have some trouble envisioning him finding success in New England (w/Cam Newton), but it was a move out of necessity for the Dolphins. They move a guy that wasn't going to make a major impact for them, free up some roster space, and gain a 6th round pick in 2022.

Dolphins - Receive DeAndre Washington RB. This is a guy I've liked since he came into the league with Detroit. He's a bigger back with nice feet and the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He's had trouble staying healthy, though, and at times, has struggled to maximize his opportunities. The Dolphins add more depth to the room with Gaskin being out for the foreseeable future with a knee injury, and the Chiefs gain a 2021 7th round pick. It looks like a win-win.
